Happiness is a choice. Yes, that is easier said than done; but it is the truth. We choose how we will respond to events that happen in our lives. We choose if we want to display anger or hurt, and even happiness. Therefore, happiness is a choice.

So, "how do I choose to be happy?" you ask. Surely, everyone would choose to be happy if they knew it was a choice. Wrong! Many of us understand that our outlook on life largely determines how we feel emotionally. However, we feel we have a right to feel the way that we are feeling. We decide to stay in the same emotional state to "spend some time there" and really soak in our situation. But guess what? This is not necessary. You can choose to be happy now!

HAPPINESS IS NOW!!! If you wait to be happy, you will never get there. It will keep moving like the pot of gold at the end of the rainbow. It's a beautiful view daydreaming about it and trying to get there, but if you don't decide to be happy NOW... your rainbow will always fade.

Here's how:

How do you get to a happy place and stay there? Each day make a conscious decision to stay in your place of peace.

  • Wake up in the morning with an affirmation such as "Today is a good day. I have the strength and the ability to be the good that I want to see today." Also, be sure to smile in the mornings. Smiling into a mirror is especially fun.

  • Set the intention for your day before you encounter other people. Decide that you will not let any outside forces affect your inner peace.

  • Go outside, turn towards the sun, close your eyes and allow the bright, yellow energy from the sun to penetrate your core and flow through you. This will help you to feel empowered and allow you to make positive choices for the rest of your day.

  • Say no to things that bring down your energy. In order to stay at a higher frequency, you must distance yourself from those things that make you feel heavy with lower emotions & negativity. This includes people. You will have to say no to the gossip and the draining conversations in order to stay in your place of peace.

  • Give yourself credit. If you get a little upset, take slow deep breaths to calm yourself down before your emotions escalate.

If only for today, you can be happy.

Your happiness is your number one priority. You cannot give love from a suffocating heart. Put your oxygen mask on first before you help others.

After a number of years in Emergency/Trauma Nursing, and meeting so many people during transitions in life, LaDeidra realized Holistic Nursing is her passion . She now works in private practice as a Holistic Nurse and provides Holistic & Complementary Therapy . She is also a Licensed Massage Therapist, Reiki Master, Certified Nurse Case Manager, & Life Purpose Coach. Through her work as a Nurse Case Manager, she was able to witness that a personalized, and culturally sensitive plan of care creates a healing environment and leads to better outcomes for the patient.  When not with patients, LaDeidra enjoys creating unique products to help people relax and heal naturally. She believes Holistic Health is extremely important and this is her life's work. She is very proud to offer holistic & complementary therapy to be integrated into a conventional medicine plan of care to help heal the whole person: mind, body, spirit, and emotions.
